How does The Trust work on Netflix? Netflix

If like us, you're spending many of your cold January evenings curled up on the sofa, glued to your remote, then we have just the show to bring more drama to your cosy nights in. Netflix has just launched a brand new gameshow called The Trust, and it's got a distinct The Traitors feel to it.

The first four episodes (there's eight in total) of The Trust dropped on Netflix on 10th January and features a major twist for the gameshow reality genre. Instead of the 11 contestants competing to win the prize money ($250,000 to be exact) at the end of the series, they are given it straight away. The rest of the series is then about the contestants deciding how they distribute that money amongst themselves.

Intrigued? Here's everything you need to know about the rules of The Trust on Netflix.

What are the rules of The Trust on Netflix?

Ok, so The Trust is a game show unlike any other. The show begins with 11 contestants being brought together at a luxury beach side villa (it's a Netflix series, what else did you expect?) where they are given a share of a trust of $250,000.

However, it's not quite as simple as that. While no one has to be eliminated, each episode the contestants have a chance to anonymously vote out their fellow contestants from the trust.

But how do they come to the decision of who should be voted out? Well each episode also brings different tests designed to see who is playing for the team, and who is out for themselves.

At the end of each episode the players individually head to the trust ceremony where they tell Brooke Baldwin if they're choosing to continue sharing the money between everyone or if they're voting someone out.

The voting works with majority rules, i.e. the person voted for the most is the one kicked out of the game. However, if there is a tie, then no one goes home. The most savage part is you only need one vote to be eliminated.

Brooke tells the contestants whether the trust has been broken or not at the end of each episode, and potentially sends someone home.

What is the vault in The Trust? And how does it work?

As if that wasn't intense enough, there's also another added element to this game. Below the main villa where the contestants are staying, there is a secret vault.

So how do you get inside the vault? Well this is all down to chance. A key card lets you into the vault and each episode players are asked to pick a key card at random to enter the vault, but only the key cards with a silver swipe will enable them access to the vault.

In each episode the contestants have the chance to enter the vault where they will be presented with two offers; one that helps them individually and the other offer helps the group as a whole. They don't have to reveal their decision choice with the rest of the group, but they do have to pick one of the two offers. And let's just say it gets tense when it comes to making these decisions.
