New CCTV footage of absconded prisoner Daniel Gee shows the gangster boarding a train to Liverpool - with a mystery woman.

Gee absconded from Kirklevington Prison in Stockton on May 27, sparking a police manhunt. CCTV images now released by Cleveland Police show Gee at James Cook University Hospital railway station at 11.50am on Tuesday May 28, where he is believed to have boarded a train to Middlesbrough at 1.27pm.

Investigators also obtained footage showing Gee boarding the 2.16pm train from Darlington to Liverpool Lime Street on May 28. Police do not know where he got off after boarding the train to Liverpool. The new sightings come as a former Strangeways prison guard says it will be hard for him to stay on the run for long - describing him as a 'parole prisoner'.

Some have suggested Gee might be further afield than Merseyside. His brother, Darren Gee, said he hopes his younger brother has left the country.

Speaking on an episode of the Criminal Connection Podcast, Darren said: "[Daniel] has absconded in the last few days. I am hoping it's a planned abscond. If it's an emotional abscond, it's going to go wrong. If it's planned then hopefully he is out the country."

Neil Samworth, a former prison guard at Strangeways, said: "Danny, if he got out, could turn his life around...Danny is a parole prisoner. So dependent on what happens is dependent on his future. It's very difficult to get on your toes and stay at large. Lots of people, criminals I knew, went to Spain and the like, living the life. The authorities catch up with you. And you can incriminate other people."

Police, reports The Echo, have now appealed for a woman with a pram to come forward after she was spotted on CCTV appearing to meet with Gee on the platform of the hospital train station between 12pm and 1.30pm on May 28.

The woman, who is seen wearing a leopard print hat, a Barbour style brown jacket and cream trousers, and has a knee brace on, appears to board a train with Gee to Middlesbrough, then board another train with him heading for Darlington.

In CCTV footage seen by police, Gee and the mystery woman both get off at Darlington and go their separate ways on the platform. The woman can be seen leaving Darlington train station without Gee, pushing a pushchair and heading towards Yarm Road and the town centre of Darlington.
