Runaway Cat Suffers Major Hangover After Lapping Up Three Bottles Of White Wine

A German cat has been sleeping off a hangover - after he got trapped inside a wine cellar and lapped up three bottle of broken booze.

Aljosha’s owners feared the worst after he went missing from his Würselen, North Rhine-Westphalia, home for seven weeks.

They put posters up across the area and kept a constant look-out for their pet.

The adventurous 6-year-old Turkish Angora eventually showed up almost two months later - but looking slightly worse for wear.

His owners discovered that he’d found his way into a nearby house’s wine cellar, according to Bild.

Unable to leave, he’d accidentally smashed a €20 bottle of Mosel Saar Ruwer, a €5 Alfer Burggraf and a €15 2003 Mosel Riesling.

He drank the white wine up, and was discovered to have a dangerous level of alcohol in his system when he was rescued.

“He was more dead than alive when I picked him up,” said his owner Claudia von Büren, reports The Local.

“We went to the vets straight away, where they diagnosed him with alcohol poisoning,” she added.

Aljosha was placed on a drip for three days, and was eventually allowed to return home.

He’s said to have recovered from his hangover, but is currently refusing to drink water because it looks like white wine.

So he’s now being treated to cat milk.
