Rupert Grint smashes Sir David Attenborough's Instagram record

Rupert Grint has managed to break Sir David Attenborough's record for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram.

Guinness World Records said the Ron Weasley star reached the milestone in just four hours and one minute when he signed up to the platform on 10 November.

The 94-year-old naturalist had managed the feat in four hours and 44 minutes.

Grint joked he was "10 years late" to the photo-sharing app in his debut post, and also announced his baby daughter's name to the world.

The Harry Potter actor welcomed his first child with girlfriend Georgia Groome back in May, a girl named Wednesday.

Groome is also an actor, and starred in 2008 teen film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

Alongside a snap of him holding the tot, Grint wrote: "Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert."

In his second post, Grint shared a promo for the upcoming second season of the Apple TV+ series Servant, in which he stars as Julian Pearce.

Attenborough himself had managed to usurp Jennifer Aniston as the record holder when he signed up to Instagram just a few months ago.

The Friends actor had reached 1 million followers in five hours and 16 minutes in October last year.

Other record holders in the category include David Beckham, Pope Francis, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
