Russell T Davies jokes he's going to sue Ryan Gosling over Doctor Who shirt
Russell T Davies has joked he is going to sue Ryan Gosling over the actor's Doctor Who t-shirt.
The Drive star was pictured on the set of Barbie wearing a shirt depicting Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor, which is, of course, unofficial merchandise as the Sex Education actor was only announced in the role last month.
Posting a picture of Gosling in the shirt, BBC showrunner Davies joked on Instagram: "This is, genuinely, Ryan Gosling wearing a t-shirt of Ncuti Gatwa as Doctor Who. We’re suing him, of course. Illegal merch."

Gatwa also reacted on Instagram to the picture, writing "Dolls supporting Doctors. Yass king," adding "As if I couldn't love him anymore."
The designer of the artwork, Matthew Purchase, has also started selling the shirt to raise money for the charity The Goboka Rwanda Trust which supports Rwandan communities.
Gatwa has previously discussed the enormity of taking over the role currently played by Jodie Whittaker: "I woke up crying, and then I was dancing, but I’m glad it’s finally out and I don’t have to keep it a secret anymore, because I’m terrible.

"There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared."
He also relished the opportunity to work with Russell T Davies who will Doctor Who again after doing so previously between 2005 and 2010: "Russell T Davies is almost as iconic as the Doctor himself and being able to work with him is a dream come true.
"His writing is dynamic, exciting, incredibly intelligent and fizzing with danger."
As well as Gatwa, Yasmin Finney will be joining the show as a character called Rose and Neil Patrick Harris will be playing a new villain.
