Russia Launches Kalibr Missile in Sea of Japan, Defense Ministry Says

The Russian military said it launched a Kalibr missile from a submerged submarine in the Sea of Japan that hit a dummy target over 621 miles away, posting video of the test on March 3.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine of the Pacific Fleet launched the Kalibr missile at a coastal target in country’s Khabarovsk territory.

Footage posted by the ministry shows crewman on the submarine before launch drill and the submarine leaving port. The launch sequence inside the submarine and the launch of the missile from a submerged position are also observed. A final scene shows a missile hitting a target.
