Loose Women's Ruth Langsford is speaking out for the first time since the unexpected announcement of her split from Eamonn Holmes, her husband of 14 years. The TV persona, aged 64, used Instagram as a medium on Sunday to post a video of herself and her beloved pooch, Maggie, taking advantage of a sunny spell.

Following that, another heartwarming clip featured Maggie spending quality time with 'granny', Ruth's mother Joan. "Enjoying the little bit of sunshine we got today," shared Ruth adding, "Bit of grandma love." Rumours began to circulate of an impending surprise reveal on Saturday, leading up to the unfortunate confirmation from representatives of the couple.

A joint statement made public stated: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing." Fans noted with worry, the absence of any recent joint photographs of this popular couple, known for many years as co-presenters on ITV's This Morning.

Their endearing banter and occasional spats were enjoyed by viewers as part of their on-screen presence, but both insisted that these disagreements stemmed from a place of affection, reports the Mirror. The unexpected news of the split is likely to stun fans, who saw the couple as having a genuine and lasting marriage in showbiz. A source close to them revealed to The Sun that career commitments leading them in contrasting paths were at the core of their parting.

"They are determined to stay friends and keep things amicable," they disclosed. Their relationship hit turbulent times in 2020 when they were harshly cut from This Morning. Ruth continued to work with her previous employers as part of the Loose Women crew, while Eamonn adopted a different tack upon moving to GB News, hurling numerous scornful remarks at his former superiors.

Eamonn proclaimed that he was abruptly dismissed from his long-standing role without forewarning and alleged that ITV heads never showed him kindness. "They tossed me out of the door and didn't care where I was going," lamented Eamonn. Over the past few years, the 64-year-old has been grappling with chronic pain while managing his TV duties and has been spotted in a wheelchair and using crutches as his health declines.

This week, Ruth openly discussed the effect of Eamonn's health issues on their marriage for the first time. In a candid conversation with Woman's Weekly, Ruth Langsford opened up about the challenges they've faced, revealing, "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope," during an interview that came at a delicate time. "He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family."

She also reflected on the importance of health, saying, "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is." The couple, parents to 22-year-old Jack, while Eamonn has three children from his previous marriage, have been notably private lately, with Ruth not mentioning her husband on social media since July 2022.

Meanwhile, Eamonn raised eyebrows when he posted a photo with former page 3 model Linda Lusardi, leading fans to question, "So where is Ruth? ". Ruth and Eamonn's love story began in 1997, leading to a long courtship before tying the knot in 2010.

When asked about their lasting bond, Ruth shared the essence of their connection: "I think always respect, mutual respect. And we laugh a lot. I think love and lust and everything's wonderful at the start of a relationship. But really...you've got to have that connection as friends where you feel comfortable with each other."

In April, Ruth Langsford candidly discussed the possibility of her husband Eamonn Holmes leaving her for another woman during a segment on Loose Women. She confessed to her co-panellists that she would be more devastated if Eamonn left her for a woman their own age. The Mirror has reached out to Eamonn and Ruth's representatives for their comments on this story.
