Ryan Reynolds Celebrates ‘Deadpool 3’ Wrapping After Strike Delay
That’s a wrap on Deadpool 3.
“The suit hides blood. Also sweat … But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears,” star, producer and co-writer Ryan Reynolds said in a post on Instagram on Wednesday. He went on to thank co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy.

Wrote the actor: “I got to make a movie with my closest pals and that doesn’t happen very often.”
Jackman shared his own note, writing, “What a ride!!! I’ve loved every minute of making this movie. Well not the training and diet but the other 93.2%. To the best cast and crew, thank you! You are all aces.”
Like other tentpoles around the world, the SAG-AFTRA strike shut down the film in mid-July after completing around two months of filming in London. It was one of the most noteworthy productions affected by the strike.
It has a script from Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells.
Deadpool 3 is notable for multiple reasons. It is Marvel Studios’ first R-rated feature, and is also the studio’s first film to star a character that previously toplined a franchise at 20th Century Fox. Deadpool, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and other characters previously at Fox moved under the Marvel Studios umbrella when Marvel owner Disney purchased Fox in 2019.
With Deadpool 3, Marvel Studios also works with Jackman for the first time. The actor became a star 23 years ago thanks to the original X-Men, and seemingly retired from the role with 2017’s Logan, before deciding to pick up the claws once more. The Crown’s Emma Corin and Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen also star.
Deadpool is a crown jewel of the former Fox properties, with the first Deadpool standing as the highest-grossing X-Men film of all time, despite being more modestly budgeted than most in the series.
