Amid guesses from longtime viewers, it was revealed that Ryan Seacrest would be the person next in line to host the hit game show. At the time, he shared his excitement for becoming associated with Wheel of Fortune, with Pat backing him up with his seal of approval over the choice. What's more, Ryan later spoke out about working alongside Vanna White, stating how thrilled he was to continue Pat's legacy with her as well.
If that wasn't enough, when the first official promo for Ryan's new gig aired on June 13, folks witnessed Pat give the American Idol host some kind words about what he could expect from his tenure on Wheel of Fortune.
"I think what you’re going to enjoy most is meeting the players and getting to know the audience at home," Pat told Ryan in the clip. "People love this show. They go and see us every day and spend a half hour with us and watch with the whole family. You're never going to find a better job, and you're never going to find a better co-host."

If the show follows the schedule pattern it has in years past, it's likely Ryan Seacrest's first Wheel of Fortune episode will air in September 2024.
When looking at the game show's season 41 schedule which aired during the 2023-2024 TV season, TV Guide reported the first episode (titled "European Vacation") aired on Monday, September 11, 2023. Given how that timeline coincides with the season premieres of primetime television shows, it's plausible to think that Ryan's first episode will air at a similar timeframe in season 42.
While the folks at Wheel of Fortune haven't confirmed the official air date of Ryan's first episode, he's certainly excited about spinning the wheel. When speaking to Good Morning America back in February, he expressed his excitement while acknowledging the importance of him doing a good job in the role.
"Pat Sajak is such a legend," he said at the time. "He makes it look so easy and smooth and seamless. He's remarkable."
