Ryanair warns digital boarding passes 'won't be accepted' and says 'unfortunately'

Ryanair has warned digital boarding passes won’t be accepted in three holiday hotspots. Ryanair, which is rivalled by the likes of Jet2, British Airways, easyJet, TUI and more, has said that printed out, paper passes are the only valid form in three popular destinations this spring and summer.

This is because their airports do not accept digital only passes. An airline spokesperson said: “We accept mobile boarding passes on flights from the majority of airports on our network. However, unfortunately some airports cannot accept mobile boarding passes yet, these airports are Turkey and Morocco.”

Ryanair also warned that Tirana Airport in Albania is also unable to accept mobile boarding passes. The spokesperson added: “Customers travelling from these airports must check-in online and print out a paper boarding pass for their flight."

You can access your boarding pass via ‘My Bookings’ on the Ryanair.com website or the Ryanair App. But the website warns: "If you depart from a Moroccan airport, a digital boarding pass will not be accepted. You must carry a physical printout of your boarding pass, and you’ll need to present this boarding pass at the Moroccan airport check-in facility."

It adds: "We accept mobile boarding passes on flights from the majority of airports on our network. However unfortunately some airports cannot accept mobile boarding passes yet, these airports are Turkey and Morocco.

"Also the following airport does not accept mobile boarding passes: Tirana." It goes on to warn: "Customers traveling from these airports must check in online and print out a paper boarding pass for their flight(s)."

In December, customers have complained that they have had to pay up to £21 for a seat to access a digital boarding pass when checking in. A Ryanair spokesperson said passengers have never been asked to pay to download boarding passes.
