Rylan admits representing the UK at Eurovision is his 'dream'
The TV presenter and Eurovision Song Contest superfan would love to swap hosting for singing one day.
What did you miss?
Rylan has admitted his dream is to one day represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The TV presenter and Eurovision superfan is back at the contest on UK hosting duties once again, but told This Morning's Alison Hammond that he harboured a dream of one day returning to his singing roots as his country's act.
He also revealed the reason he had been banned from taking UK entrants on nights out during the contest, and which reality star he will be looking out for in the Malmo hotel bar.
What, how, and why?
Rylan might be better known for his presenting work these days, but he started out as a singer on The X Factor and has admitted to dreaming of returning to performing one day - as an act in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Eurovision superfan Rylan is in Malmo, Sweden on presenting duties again this year, and calling in to This Morning on Friday he revealed his secret hope of being on the contest's stage himself one day.
Host Alison Hammond asked him: "I wonder whether one day there might be a Rylan-shaped entry in the future, what do you think, Rylan, could that happen? I've heard some of the tracks in the car driving around with you, you would be wonderful."
Speaking from Malmo, Rylan joked: "You have heard the tracks, the album's done! I threaten the delegation every single year. Whenever I don't get my own way with something I go, 'I'm telling you now, speak to me like that again and I'm going to represent us next year, darling.'"
But he added: "Listen, it's always been a dream of mine, who knows what might happen in the future."
Rylan also threw his support behind this year's entrant, Years & Years singer Olly Alexander, saying: "Olly's had some ups and downs this year but he's in a really great place, his vocals are sounding amazing."
What else did Rylan say about Eurovision?
Hammond also asked Rylan about his love of a night out, but the TV presenter said he had been steering clear of Eurovision's club so far this year.
He said: "I have been in trouble before. I've been banned from taking the acts out since 2019 when I took Michael Rice out the night before the jury show and brought him in at 8am, bless him.
"I'm not going to lie, I've been really good this year. I've been to Euro Club once - bearing in mind it's actually in the hotel that we live, so I can actually roll into bed, is even better. I've only been once but tonight might be the night, I heard that Diane from The Traitors was in there last night so I mean what's not to love."
This Morning airs on ITV1 at 10am on weekdays.
