Sabrina Carpenter on Whether She Calls Barry Keoghan Her Boyfriend: 'How Do I Skirt Around This Question?'
The "Espresso" pop star and 'Saltburn' actor have been romantically linked since December 2023
Sabrina Carpenter is still playing coy about her relationship with Barry Keoghan.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the “Please Please Please” pop star, 25, dodged queries about her romance with the Saltburn actor, 31, when asked if she refers to him as her boyfriend yet.
“How do I skirt around this question?” Carpenter replied in an attempt to keep details private.
“The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do,” she added of her love life. “Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”

Questions about Carpenter and Keoghan’s relationship ramped up in April when the latter was spotted front and center of the singer’s debut Coachella set, where she performed her explosive “Espresso” single live for the first time.
After the music festival, the couple attended the 2024 Met Gala, bypassing a joint carpet appearance for a photographed reunion at the top of the famous steps.
Since then, the “Feather” performer and The Banshees of Inisherin star have enjoyed a few milestones in their relationship, including Carpenter’s 25th birthday celebration at DUMBO House in Brooklyn (which Keoghan threw). A source told PEOPLE that the pop artist blew out her candles before sharing a sweet kiss with her beau.
Additionally, Keoghan starred in Carpenter's “Please Please Please” music video, which was released on Thursday, June 6, where the two portrayed a Bonnie and Clyde-type romance.
Carpenter and Keoghan first sparked romance rumors following a Los Angeles dinner date in December 2023 after reportedly crossing paths during Paris Fashion Week two months prior. According to E! News, both attended a Givenchy show on Sept. 28, just one week after the Short n’ Sweet singer attended an advance screening of Saltburn in New York City.
On Feb. 4, the pair made their first public appearance together at W Magazine, Mark Ronson and Gucci's Grammys afterparty, where they were seen cozied up together in photos. A few days later, their romance went public after the two were seen sharing a kiss while leaving Hotel Bel-Air in L.A.
