It is thought that Sacha and Isla gave a generous $500,000 (£336,000) to The Sunday Times Christmas Appeal to help protect 250,000 children from a measles outbreak in Syria with their donation going towards vaccinations administered by Save The Children.

Separately, they have also given $500,000 to the New York-based International Rescue Committee, which is run by former foreign secretary David Miliband.

The couple are notoriously private about their relationship after tying the knot in 2005.

They have since welcomed three children together; seven-year-old Olive, four-year-old Elula, and Montgomery, who was born earlier this year.
