'In safe hands' - New owners found for mobile fish and chip shop

NEW owners have been found for a mobile fish and chip shop.

Ye Olde Village Chippie has a new set of faces behind the counter.

Madeline Heath, who will be familiar to many as owner of the Let’s Eat Café on the A49, takes over the business with the help of her son Daniel and his wife Leah.

The 57-year-old Winsford resident said: “I’m very excited.

“People are saying I'm crazy, but I like a challenge!”

Monday (July 1) will mark 20 years since Madeline purchased Let’s Eat Café.

She is hoping that her experience in the hospitality industry will come in handy.

“Hopefully the business is in safe hands,” Madeline said.

“I’ve got plenty of experience and I’ve cooked fish and chips at the café.”

Ye Olde Village Chippie’s previous owners, Jon and Muna Scoltock, took to social media earlier this month to announce they were looking to sell.

They said: “Unfortunately due to a change in our personal circumstances we are sorry to announce that we are putting Ye Olde Village Chippie up for sale.

“We would like to thank all our local customers for all their great support over the last 12 months.

“We wish the new owners all the best with their new venture.”

Within days Madeline snapped up the opportunity.

“My daughter-in-law sent me a message that I didn’t read until about 2.30am,” she said.

“I looked at it and just thought that looks like something we could enjoy doing together as a team.”

The chip shop currently trades in Moulton on Fridays and Barnton on Saturdays.

But Madeline says they are considering trying out other areas and have already been contacted by a few people keen to have the van pop by.
