Sally Lindsay has shared the incredible story of when she got two shows commissioned and got pregnant with twins in the same week, calling it the 'weirdest' time ever.

Speaking to Kate Thornton on the White Wine Question Time podcast the actor and TV producer shared her love of television but admits her 'best production ever' is her twin boys, born with husband, The Style Council drummer Steve White.

The Coronation Street actor, who is also creative director of her own production company, explained how, after six years of trying to have children — alongside working on two TV shows — fell pregnant and had TV shows Scott & Bailey and Mount Pleasant commissioned in the same week.

She said: "It was the weirdest thing. And this is the weirdest thing, the best production ever, for me, is my twins. Everything is just a bonus after that, I'm not really a***d.

"It's lovely, telly, and it frustrates me and I love it and I'm passionate about it. But at the end of the day, it's about the boys, it always has been."

She went on to explain that Stuart Murphy, the head of Sky One at the time — who she described as an 'amazing, beautiful maverick producer' — said they couldn't have anyone else for comedy series Mount Pleasant and that they would wait for her to come back to work.

She said that she had conversations with fellow Corrie star Suranne Jones about what they would do about Scott & Bailey, that they had been working on together, because ITV couldn't wait for her to come back to work to make it.

Lindsay said: "I said to her at the time: 'You've got to make it, you can't not make it' and she was like: 'I don't want to, without you.' And then Lesley [Sharp, who plays Janet Scott] came along and she was phenomenal.

"She put a completely different tone on it than I would. And it works obviously brilliantly."

She explained to Thornton that her production company currently has around 20 'really strong' dramas on the slate.

She said: "We've also got five in very deep development. There's one about to go that we're very excited with with the BBC.

"I co-created and co-produced Madame Blanc, which is on your tellies, that I'm in. We did a documentary about Emmeline Pankhurst, which is obviously very important to me, Mancunian hero.

"We've got a children's program, which has just been re-commissioned, and we've sold it to France and Wales, The World According To Grandpa in which I voice Halifax, the rabbit.

"She's the clever one in it. She had to be female, and she had to be clever."
