BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent has revealed the dance move which gave her "nightmares" during rehearsals for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

Speaking on today's (December 18) edition of the daytime show alongside co-host Jon Kay and dance partner Graziano di Prima, the presenter teased her appearance on the festive special, which had left her feeling a little "battered and bruised".

"It was such an experience, I perhaps wasn't the best pupil," Nugent revealed, after a clip of her and Graziano performing their festive foxtrot was played to viewers at home.

"I don't know if I was really good," she added.

Her confession led di Prima to say that she had done "brilliantly", revealing that she had completed "four pivots" in the routine.

However, his mention of the pivots caused the presenter to recoil, admitting that the move had been a "nightmare" for her.

"Oh God, the pivots, I had nightmares about the pivots," Nugent laughed, while her pro partner imitated her complaints feeling being dizzy during rehearsals. "I needed a lie-down," she added.

Despite the pivots, Nugent said that she'd loved her time on the show, adding: "I did love it... It was really great fun and we were with really lovely people as well."

Joining Sally for the festive Strictly special are EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick, historian Dan Snow, Waterloo Road actress Tillie Amartey, rugby player Danny Cipriani and Sugababes singer Keisha Buchanan – with the episode airing on Christmas Day.

Nugent previously revealed her reasons for signing up to the show, writing on Instagram that she had been in need of "a little pick-me-up" when the Strictly team contacted her.

"I am definitely not a dancer, but I will try my best," she added. "And there is no one better to learn with."

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day. Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
