Salon to open at growing Devon farm shop

The latest business to join the growing community at Fordmore Farm Shop and Café is Pure Hair and Aesthetics from Cullompton.

The award-winning salon is due to open the doors of its new premises at the Farm Shop and Café on the Honiton Road near Cullompton, to its clients at the beginning of September.

Owner Claire Whale said she and her team of six were excited to be moving to the new larger salon. She said: “We are really looking forward to this next chapter in the life of our business. It will be a beautiful salon, styled to ensure it provides a relaxing experience for our clients who will benefit not only from the free parking, but also the lovely café and farm shop on site. All our clients are as excited as we are!

“We wanted to be close to or in Cullompton as we have a very loyal clientele and when the opportunity arose we decided to go for it. We’re really looking forward to welcoming clients old and new to the salon.”

She added: “The fact we have more space also means we will be able to offer more appointments.”

The salon, which uses Aveda products, has achieved several accolades in Englands Business Awards, including winning best hair and beauty salon in the south west in 2021 and 2023 and reaching the finals in 2024.

Claire began her hairdressing career as a Saturday girl at just 13 years old. She joined Virginia’s Hair Salon in Cullompton in 2014 as a senior stylist specialising in colour correction, wedding hair and hair extensions. She went on to become an Aveda colour specialist expert.

In 2019 Claire bought Viriginia’s Hair Salon. She has steadily expanded the business over the last five years, and now has a team of six.

Tom Harradine, owner of Fordmore Farm Shop and Café, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the Pure team to our site, they will bring an extra dimension to what we offer.”

A new gym, HD Fitness, which is being run by Dan and Hannah Stone is also due to open at the site later this summer. An open day to showcase the businesses on site is planned for Saturday August 31.
