Outlander's Sam Heughan has opened up about the hugely anticipated prequel series Blood of My Blood, as the full cast is unveiled.

The Scottish actor, who is now filming for the eighth and final season of the historical drama, where he'll portray Jamie Fraser for the last time, shared his thoughts on the upcoming show.

Before that, fans can look forward to the second half of Outlander's seventh season, set to air in both the USA and the UK this coming November.

Promoting the next instalment, Heughan attended Land Con 6 in Paris last weekend, as the Scottish Daily Express, where he took the opportunity to discuss the prequel series.

Penned by Matthew B. Roberts, Blood of My Blood delves into the early lives of Jamie's parents in the 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire Fraser's parents during World War I in England.

This spin-off aims to broaden the horizons of the beloved original series.

Expressing his support for the new series, Heughan enthused the panel: "If you love Outlander, you're going to love Blood of My Blood.

I'm really excited about this show. There is so much to look forward to. This show, I can't give anything away, but I'm going to be the biggest fan. I've been hearing stories about the actors, about the characters and the storyline... I can't wait to see it."

The cast of the spin-off have been spotted filming in Glasgow, which was transformed to depict the 1910s.

Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine were seen getting cosy as they portrayed Claire Fraser's parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.

In addition, Jamie Roy will take on the role of Jamie's father Brian, while Harriet Slater will play his mother Ellen MacKenzie.
