Meghan Markle’s half-sister has hit back at suggestions she “invented” claims of being run off the road in a car crash caused by paparazzi.
Samantha Grant, 53, who tweets under the name Samantha Markle, said she suffered a broken ankle and a fractured knee when her boyfriend Mark Phillips, 60, smashed into a concrete barrier in Florida on Wednesday.
However, Florida Highway Patrol has been unable to find any evidence of the accident, which an officer said had not been officially reported.
In a series of tweets today, Ms Grant, who is wheelchair-bound from multiple sclerosis, insisted that the collision sent her careering into the car’s windscreen, and told doubters to “shut their ridiculous mouths.”
She added: “There’s no police report because we were run off the road and my boyfriend had to get me to the hospital because I was laying on the floor boards in a ball under the dashboard thrown out of my chair.
"We were run off the road and slammed on the brakes, there was no collision with another car.”
The mother-of-three was not invited to the wedding. She has been critical of Meghan for not providing more support for their father Thomas Markle, who has undergone heart surgery that has prevented him travelling to London.
The operation followed a furore over staged photos of Mr Markle, taken on the advice of Ms Grant to improve his image. She and her brother Thomas Jr, who wrote an infamous open letter to Harry urging him to call off the wedding, are the children of Thomas Sr’s first marriage to Roslyn. Ms Grant is writing memoirs titled “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister”.
