San Juan Protesters Demand Governor's Resignation

Protesters gathered outside the San Juan, Puerto Rico, home of the territory’s governor, Ricardo Rossello, on July 15 to demand his resignation after some of his private chats were leaked.

Journalists on the ground indicated police were firing tear gas to disperse demonstrators later in the evening.

The protests were incited by leaked chat logs including the governor, which were published by the Center for Investigative Journalism.

The conversations between Rossello and members of the chat included attacks against journalists by discrediting stories, derogatory remarks against women, homophobic remarks and other discussions which suggest corruption, according to CNN.
