Sara Bareilles Reveals the One Must-Have at Her Wedding to Joe Tippett (Exclusive)
"Delicious food and people being warm," the actress tells PEOPLE at the 'Girls5eva' N.Y.C. premiere on Thursday
Sara Bareilles is sharing an update on her wedding planning journey.
On Thursday, while gracing the purple carpet at the premiere of the new season of her show Girls5eva, the Waitress star, 44, revealed the status of planning her nuptials to her fiancé, actor Joe Tippett, 42.
"Oh man, we were aiming for this year," Bareilles told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. "But with his shooting schedule, I think it might be too hard to pull it together this year, so it might get pushed to next year."
The "Love Song" singer continued, "But the funny thing is, we went to look at venues, and it was really fun. That's just my worry. I worry that I'm going to lose sight of what we're doing. I don't want it to become about producing a big party."
During the interview, Bareilles also revealed a couple of must-haves for her special day: "Delicious food and people being warm," being the highlights.
Bareilles also mentioned how she and Tippett recently enlisted a wedding planner to alleviate stress. "I want to just be rooted in the joy and the celebration of finding someone I love this much and wanting to shout it from the mountaintops," she added.

Bareilles and Tippett first crossed paths in 2015 while working on Waitress at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Two years later, they made their relationship public, posing together at the opening night for All the Fine Boys, in which Tippett starred.
Then, on New Year's Day in 2023, the couple took to Instagram to share the news of their engagement. "Yes to marrying this man. It's an easy, earned, relaxed YES," Bareilles captioned her Instagram post.
Tippett proposed to Bareilles with a chic gold feather band. In their announcement photo on social media, Bareilles also wore a pair of dangling crescent moon-shaped earrings, a blue velvet top and a sparkly headband.
The Grammy winner spoke to PEOPLE in June 2023 about the placeholder gold ring, explaining the ring Tippett proposed with was not permanent. "We found this cheap little ring in a market that we both love, and we were like, 'That's the thing for now!' "

In January the singer took to Instagram to share that Tippett had finally picked out an engagement ring "at an antique store upstate."
In the post she features her showcasing the ring while she held a variety of household items. In her post, the star also included a clear image of just the ring on her hand.
"We have been engaged for a year and this is the ring we chose- we picked it up yesterday," Bareilles said.
