Sarah Ferguson was reportedly livid after Meghan Markle "hijacked her daughter's wedding day limelight".

Allegations have surfaced that the Sussexes "overshadowed Princess Eugenie's big day" by revealing their baby news at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. Reports suggest that the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of York have had a rollercoaster relationship since their first meeting in October 2016.

Royal correspondents reported that Meghan and Harry's announcement left Fergie seething. In the book Royals at War, journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett wrote: "Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child.

"This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a Royal stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.

"When Harry and Meghan made their relationship official, the Duke wanted Fergie to be the first Royal to meet her, with them meeting for drinks at the Royal Lodge together as a trio."

Despite Sarah and Meghan having met over cosy drinks back in 2016, and having since attended weddings and funerals together, Sarah recently claimed that she "doesn't really know" the former Suits star, reports the Mirror. In March 2023, Sarah candidly admitted to The Telegraph that she "doesn't know" Meghan Markle, confessing: "I don't really know Meghan. I haven't really met her."

Yet in an infamous sit-down with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021, Meghan could not speak highly enough of Fergie. She revealed details about her first encounter with the Queen, a surprise meeting that occurred "moments before". As they were heading to Royal Lodge for lunch - an occasion where Harry broke the news of the Queen's presence post-church - Meghan had to quickly learn how to curtsy.Meghan remembered: "We were in the car and we were going to the Royal Lodge for lunch, and he [Harry] was like, 'Oh, my grandmother is here, she's gonna be there after church'. " To aid her in this Royal etiquette, Fergie hurriedly asked, "Do you know how to curtsy?".

Meghan executed what was apparently a very deep curtsey, although she doesn't recall it herself. The Duchess of York recently shared insights into the life of the Royal Family during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. During this, Sarah empathetically addressed the current Royal disputes, stressing on the importance of "forgiveness" as a pillar of nurturing positive family relations.
