Sarah Michelle Gellar’s show Wolf Pack has not been renewed for a second season.

The Paramount+ series aired in January last year, but The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the streamer has cancelled the show after a single season.

Sources say that the platform was in fact keen to produce a second season of the supernatural drama, but delays as a result of last year’s Hollywood strikes meant that the show would not have been ready until 2025.

It would have cost more money to market Wolf Pack, with more than a two year gap between seasons, which influenced Paramount’s decision to cancel the show.

The show, created by Teen Wolf boss Jeff Davis, follows a group of Californian teens whose lives are changed when a wildfire in their area causes a werewolf to attack.

The series was led by a young central cast, including Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Tyler Lawrence Gray, Chloe Rose Robertson, Chase Liefeld and Bailey Stender.

Meanwhile, Buffy star Gellar starred as arson investigator Kristin Ramsey, alongside her role as an executive producer.

Wolf Pack is based on Edo van Belkom’s novels, and the author shared his disappointment about the show’s cancellation on X, formerly Twitter.

He said: "After just about a full year of uncertainty, the hammer finally fell today in Hollywood and news came out that Wolf Pack has been officially cancelled.

"Disappointing, of course, especially since all signs pointed to there being a season two. But, while the show was a success, the WGA strike followed by the SAG strike did the series no favours."

"I’m sad myself," he continued, "season two was going to see me have a cameo and another set visit, but I was just having fun and playing in Hollywood for a bit. I feel more for the young actors and others who felt this was going to be their big break."

All episodes of Wolf Pack season one are available to stream now on Paramount+.
