Satellite Imagery Captures 'Powerful Storm System' Approaching US West Coast

A satellite captured imagery of a “powerful storm system” approaching the west coast of the United States on Wednesday, January 4, the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) said.

This imagery showing the system was released by CIRA, which operates in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

California governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency throughout California in response to the storm, and the National Weather Service issued multiple warnings across the California coast. Credit: CIRA via Storyful
