Satellite Photos Show Devastation at Gaza's al-Shifa Hospital

Satellite imagery captured by Maxar Technologies on April 1 revealed massive devastation at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after Israeli forces withdrew and ended two weeks of intense fighting in the area.

Maxar said the “before” images were captured before the conflict erupted on October 7.

“Dozens of people can be seen along the streets in and around the hospital,” they said.

Israeli operations at the hospital started with a raid on March 18. On March 25, Israeli forces said approximately 500 “terrorists affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad” had been apprehended at the hospital.

On March 31, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said 21 patients had died since the Israeli operation began and urged Israel to "urgently facilitate access and a humanitarian corridor so WHO and partners can carry out the lifesaving transfer of patients.”
