Dec Donnelly was supported by best mate and co-host Ant McPartlin as he appeared to 'crack' with emotion during a moving moment in the Saturday Night Takeaway.

When they appeared as guests on Friday's This Morning, Ant predicted there might be tears as the best mates and presenting partners in crime brought their long running show to an end after 20 series, having announced last year that they were planning to 'rest' it. With so much going on in the extended two hour Takeaway finale, there was little time for Ant and Dec to take in everything going on around them and the enormity of the situation.

But, in the final part of the programme, they took time to reflect on what doing Saturday Night Takeaway has meant to them, as well as thanking fans for always tuning in in their millions, in a moving speech that had them and plenty of people watching at home on the verge of tears. Ant began by saying: "Saturday Night Takeaway is the kind of show Dec and I watched every Saturday growing up, so it's been an honour and a privilege to make the show and be part of your Saturday night over 20 years."

Dec then took over, commenting: When we started this back in 2022, we thought we'd be lucky if we get to do this for maybe a couple of years; so what's happened has honestly been beyond our wildest dreams. We have truly adored every second of making this show."

And, it was then, as he started to thank fans that Dec's voice cracked with emotion, as he added: "But there's one thing we've never ever forgotten and that's the fact it's not our show, it's your show. So we'd like to say a thank you to you, our incredible audience."

After Ant too said thank you, then then stepped across the stage to be right beside Dec, as he then put a supportive arm around his shoulder, before a highlights montage aired ahead of the End of the Show Show. Once credits had rolled, the Geordie duo shared a moving behind the scenes snap, with them hugging each other on set.
