Scarlett Moffatt says she has 'learned to be kinder to myself' over body image

The former Gogglebox and I'm a Celebrity star has always spoken openly about her struggles around body confidence

TV presenter Scarlett Moffatt has revealed she is at a place of peace when it comes to her body, having struggled with body confidence in the wake of vile online trolling.

"I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m very chill. Everything has clicked together," she told The Sun.

Moffatt explained that she promised herself a year ago to finally conquer the problems with her appearance which have affected her over the years, ever since she rose to fame on Gogglebox.

She said: "I’ve learned to be kinder to myself and I think it’s the first time I can genuinely say I feel really confident."

Moffatt said that she and women like her are "bombarded" by images of thin people and impossible beauty standards of all kinds.

She added: "Bodies aren’t ‘trends’ like clothes. And as soon as you accept this is what you look like, life becomes a lot easier. Everyone has a different shaped body and that’s fine."

Moffatt has spoken openly in the past about her struggles with trolling, admitting that she turned to Samaritans at one point when things felt particularly bleak.

The star is now an ambassador for the charity and said she has grown sympathetic towards online trolls, saying those who post abusive messages online "probably need a hug and someone to chat to".

Moffatt first arrived on TV screens on reality show Beauty School Cop Outs in 2013, but really rose to fame when she and her family joined the cast of Gogglebox a year later.

Her popularity kicked up to a whole new level when she won the 16th series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2016.

Since then, Moffatt has presented numerous shows of her own, including a revival of Streetmate and the documentary Britain's Tourette's Mystery.

Her newest show, Scarlett’s Driving School, will follow her as she attempts to finally pass her driving test after failing it 13 times.
