School children rushed to hospital after horror bus crash with tractor

School children have been rushed to hospital after they were involved in a horror bus crash with a tractor. The youngsters were on their way home from class when the bus collided with the tractor on a country road at around 3.25pm on Wednesday, May 22.

It's understood the tractor had its bucket up in the air at the time of the incident. Police confirmed tonight several passengers on the bus - including five children - were injured. Some are receiving medical treatment. It's believed some of those caught up in the incident have serious injuries.

Emergency services, including paramedics, fire crews, police and an air ambulance raced to to the scene at Meopham, near Gravesend, Kent, reports the Mirror.

The collision happened just before 3.30pm this afternoon, less than half an hour after locals schools finished for the day. The names of the pupils or which school they attended have yet to be confirmed as the force appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

A Kent Police Spokesperson said "The incident is being investigated by Kent Police’s Serious Collision Unit (SCIU) and officers are appealing to any witnesses to contact them. This includes those who may have footage on their phones and motorists with potential evidence on dashcams."

Pictures from the scene show around a dozen emergency service vehicles lining the streets following the incident. The road was closed at the location on the A227 South Street near Culverstone Green. Paramedics and an air ambulance were called, with Kent Fire and Rescue Service quickly on the scene.

An ambulance spokesman said: “I can confirm we responded to a serious RTC in South Street, Meopham, reported to us shortly after 3.30pm today. We have multiple resources at the scene assessing a number of casualties.”
