LIVE music, attractions, games and more combined to create the best of fundraising events for Threshfield Primary School.

Last Saturday's 'Threstival' -held at Upper Wharfedale School - included performances by seven live acts, two DJs and even a special recital from the school choir in a day that raised more than £5,000 for the school.

Bands and acts on the line up included North Yorkshire singer songwriter Callum Spencer, Ed Sheeran tribute act from Cullingworth Ben Jordan, and Bradford-based rock covers band Into the Mystic.

In addition to the carefully curated selection of live music, Threstival-goers were entertained by activities ranging from gun dog demonstrations to kids’ and adults’ races to traditional summer fair games and pig racing. Cakes, ice creams, pizzas, a bar and a barbecue ensured everyone was well fed and watered.

Businesses from the area generously supported the event with donations, sponsorship and sharing equipment and skills. Upper Wharfedale School provided the venue for the day, allowing access to its school grounds and facilities.

Emma Roberts, Friends of Threshfield Primary School committee member and Threstival organiser, said: “We’re all overwhelmed with the incredible support our fundraiser has received. We set out to create a fun day for everyone and raise a bit of cash for our lovely school – it’s surpassed all our expectations.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who helped us to put on such a fantastic day – the artists, the companies and organisations who offered their skills, resources and sponsorship, the army of volunteers who worked their socks off and, of course, everyone who came along and spent their hard-earned cash with us.

Sarah Harper, Headteacher at Threshfield Primary School, added: “We might be a little village school but Threstival has shown what a huge amount of community support we have, not least from Mr (Ian) Chapman and the team at Upper Wharfedale School who allowed us to take over their school grounds. Everyone had a superb day and it was a real joy to see our children, their families and the wider Threshfield community together having such a fantastic time.

“The staggering amount of money raised will make such a difference to Threshfield Primary School pupils and will enable us to offer an even greater school experience. On behalf of all our wonderful Threshfield pupils, I would like to thank everyone who supported Threstival, and particularly to the organisers Emma, Steph and the rest of the Friends of Threshfield Committee.”
