A horrified mum said she had a panic attack when she saw her son "out cold and covered in blood".

Onur Yilmaz, 14, had travelled to Wembley on Saturday (April 20) to watch as Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 to reach the FA Cup final. Onur Yilmaz's mum Rachel said her son was in a third-tier stand when he walked to use the toilets in the second half of the match.

Rachel claimed her son stopped on his way to the toilets as Bernardo Silva scored. But, he lost his balance and fell '15 feet' over a third-tier stand railing and landed on concrete.

His 19-year-old brother Josh - and nearby fans - found him 'out cold' on the floor, covered in blood, Rachel said. He was given medical attention before being taken to hospital.

Rachel was at home in Astley, Wigan, during the match. She told the Manchester Evening News: "I was beside myself and had a full meltdown. I had a panic attack and my eldest son was traumatised seeing him out cold and covered in blood."

"I'm still in shock. A woman who helped him during the incident said she saw him lifeless and thought he was dead. To be so far away was horrendous... not being with them both to comfort them."

Onur travelled back to Greater Manchester home on Sunday, before going to Manchester Royal Infirmary for further treatment. He suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, a forehead fracture and cuts to his mouth and chin. He also needed surgery after breaking two toes.

Onur, a huge Manchester City supporter and goalkeeper for Wigan Athletic FC's under 16 team, is now in recovery at home but will have to take a break from playing.

His mum Rachel shared: "He's alive and we're beyond grateful, but he's not in the best way. He's healing and resting now to get back for pre-season with Wigan."

"He's an avid City fan and he's still adamant about seeing his team and the FA Cup final. We're hoping he'll make a full recovery and it won't affect what he loves to do."

A representative from Wembley Stadium responded: "We can confirm that a spectator fell down a set of stairs during the closing stages of the Chelsea v Manchester City fixture on Saturday. The spectator was assessed on site and given medical attention by our experienced team, before being taken to hospital via the stadium's emergency ambulance."
