Scotland supporters at Euro 2024 have been caught on camera belting out a vile chant that mocks the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The distasteful video surfaced online just before the Prince of Wales' visit to Germany.

The footage shows Scottish fans in Dusseldorf, beaming and clutching beers as they sing "Lizzie's in a box" to the melody of KC and The Sunshine Band's 1982 hit 'Give It Up'.

This abhorrent video alludes to the late Queen's death in September 2022, an event that led to widespread mourning across the globe, and the offensive chant is bound to cause dismay.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her Balmoral estate in Scotland after reigning for seven decades.

The incident occurs as her grandson, Prince William, is set to witness England's Group C game against Denmark on Thursday. Kensington Palace has confirmed that William, who is the president of the Football Association, will be present at the match held at Frankfurt Arena, which could confirm England's progression to the next stage, reports the Express.

Their statement declared: "The Prince of Wales, president of the Football Association, will attend the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage match between England and Denmark at Frankfurt Arena on Thursday 20th June."

Scotland secured their first point of the tournament on Wednesday, managing a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, following a crushing 5-1 defeat by Germany in their opening match.

England supporters have ignored warnings from both German police and the Football Association regarding their behaviour while in Germany for the competition. Three Lions fans were specifically asked to refrain from mocking German war casualties during their time in the country.

Despite these warnings, videos of fans singing the chant '10 German bombers' to the tune of 'Ten Green Bottles' have been circulating on social media throughout the Euros. This comes after a senior German police officer advised them not to act inappropriately.

Peter Both, the head of Gelsenkirchen police, commented ahead of England's game against Serbia: "That's what I would say to them: Don't be a d***."

"If they sing a song like this, I can't change it. It's not punishable in Germany. I hope that all the other peaceful and law-abiding fans say to them, 'Stop it'."

According to The Telegraph, England fans also displayed a banner on Saturday featuring an image of wartime prime minister Winston Churchill and the words: "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP."
