Scots DJ Ewan McVicar is headlining an electronic music festival in Ayr this weekend - complete with an out of this world stage and a hidden, secret den.

The Pavilion Festival was created and headlined by Ewan in 2023, bringing the first ever electronic music weekender to his hometown. And while Ewan said he was buzzing to be back home, he was even more excited to unveil the nearly five story stage being set up on Ayr beach.

The 14.5m tall, 27m long stage will be just as much a draw as the other performers, which includes Patrick Topping, and US legend Derrick Carter.

Last year, around 12,000 revellers descended on Ayr over two days, where Ewan headlined the festival on the Saturday night.

Tomorrow, Ewan sets to return to the stage once more - although this time, wielding crutches, after snapping his ligaments before a gig in Prague.

Speaking about the festival, Ewan said: “I’m buzzing to be back home and ready to see all my pals again. Last year the atmosphere was unreal so I’m excited to see that crowd bouncing again.

“I don’t know how I’m going to get about, I might need to get a mobility scooter. The doctor has told me to rest up, but there’s no way that is happening, the crutches are frustrating but that’s not going to stop me!”

And Ewan believes that it won't dampen the performing, saying the festival is something most would have to travel to Europe to find.

“Last year was just incredible but this year we wanted to scale Pavilion up," he explained. "There’s never been a stage like this in Scotland, it’s completely unique.

“It’s more like something you’d see in Tomorrowland, in Belgium, it is out of this world. We wanted to bring our own identity, let’s do something that has a wow factor."

As well as the LED screen lit main stage, fans will also be able to head over to the iconic Sub Club arena – which has seen the iconic Glasgow nightclub pop-up an hour down the road.

A secret rave den will also be on site – if fans can find it.

Ewan added: “I don’t want to give too much away, it’s all top secret right now, but once fans are in tomorrow they’ll be able to enjoy a weird and wonderful experience, that’s hidden in the festival site.

“It’s going to be like a secret den, I can’t wait to see how folk react to it.”

Ewan will top the bill tomorrow after Newcastle DJ Patrick Topping with the duo also set play an exclusive new track that they’ve worked on together for the first time.
