Scots mountain horror as pensioner falls to his death while hillwalking near Glen Coe

A tragic Scots pensioner has sadly fallen to his death while out hillwalking near Glen Coe.

The 74-year-old man was found on Beinn a' Chrulaiste after concerns for the hillwalker who hadn't returned from his walk on May 11 were raised.

Fourteen members of the hero Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team searched for the man before discovering his body on the 2000ft high mountain.

There are no suspicious circumstances regarding his death and his family have been made aware.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were made aware of concern for an overdue hillwalker in the Glencoe area around 7.15pm on Saturday, 11 May.

"The Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team carried out a search and the body of the 74-year-old man was found on Beinn a' Chrulaiste."

They added: “His body has been recovered and his of kin are aware. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
