Scots street cordoned off as emergency services rush to scene

Emergency services have raced to the scene of an incident in Inverness this afternoon.

Officers were called to Muirtown Street in the city after the alarm was raised shortly before 12pm on Thursday. Cops were responding to reports of a "disturbance". No further details on the nature of the incident have yet been disclosed.

Pictures shared with the Record showed a number of police vehicles in attendance at the scene. An area outside a home could be seen to be cordoned off.

Two fire engines could also be seen in attendance after crews were called to assist. It's currently unclear whether anyone has been injured as a result of the disturbance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.50am on Thursday, May 9, 2024, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Muirtown Street area of Inverness. Emergency services are in attendance."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.02pm on Thursday, May 9 to assist emergency service partners at an incident on Muirtown Street, Inverness.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the area. Crews remain in attendance."
