ScottishPower appoints two new executives

ScottishPower has made two new senior appointments, with Charles Langan becoming its new chief financial officer and Nicola Connelly taking over as chief executive for SP Energy Networks.

Both are established leaders within ScottishPower, with Langan previously holding senior finance roles in the UK and Spain, notably managing the Iberdrola Group’s fixed income investor relations and most recently as ScottishPower’s finance and resources director.

Connelly takes over from Vicky Kelsall, who is retiring after 30 years working across ScottishPower and the Iberdrola Group, including with its North American businesses PacifiCorp and Avangrid, before being appointed boss of SP Energy Networks in 2022.

Connelly has held various senior roles across ScottishPower since joining in 1995. She was previously finance director of SP Energy Networks and was appointed control and administration director of ScottishPower in July 2021.

Keith Anderson, chief executive of ScottishPower, said: “Charles and Nicola are both highly experienced, dedicated leaders and their appointments reflect their proven track records of strategic vision, strong leadership and consistent delivery.

“With a £12bn investment plan and a huge pipeline of projects across our business to be delivered, their commitment to excellence and driving value will be invaluable to ScottishPower and SP Energy Networks.

“I’d like to thank Vicky for her accomplishments, dedication and commitment to the company, and it is with great respect that I wish her a happy and well-deserved retirement.”

ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a leader in wind energy, investing more than £12bn in the UK out to 2028.

The couple have five children - aged 18 to nine - and say feeding the brood three meals a day gets expensive so they have had to use the buy-now-pay-later service. In recent months Laura says she had to use Klarna to afford groceries as she "can't afford" to pay for a big shop upfront. Laura claims both she and Martin have both maxed out their credit cards after their energy bill shot up to £450-a-month from £200.
