Sea and Earth fish and chip shop with vegan options to open in Eastwood

A chip shop with more than the usual cod, sausages and pies will be opening in Eastwood. The menu will also have a wide vegan selection with options such as banana blossom, mock scampi, and meat-free nuggets and sausages.

It will be the second branch of Sea & Earth to open in Nottinghamshire, after the launch of the chippy in Woodthorpe in 2021 - but the owners say this one will be even better as it will have a restaurant as well as a takeaway.

Overall it will be the fourth site, joining branches in Leek and Loughborough plus the Woodthorpe shop at a busy location in Mansfield Road. Andrew Constantinou, the former owner of George's Tradition, and his son Nik are behind the business.

They have not revealed the exact location in the town but have posted photographs on Facebook of conversion work at the premises. An opening date has yet to be announced.

The fish alternative is battered banana blossom, the fleshy purple flower, from south-east Asia, which grows at the end of the banana clusters. It is one of the vegan staples which have received rave reviews.

One person said: "We travelled nearly 40 minutes to try the vegan banana blossom and it was well worth the trip. So impressed with the vegan options available and would rate our meal a solid 10/10. The staff were really friendly and everything was also very clean and tidy. We liked the clean-cut sustainable vibe and that the packaging was biodegradable."

Another said: "Absolutely awesome chippy with really amazing vegan options. We had the banana blossom fish, fishcake, chips and curry sauce and all were really fresh and delicious. Really kind, friendly and helpful service too, and the food was ready really quickly."
