The squad on SEAL Team aren't being recalled from their mission just yet.

It was announced that the procedural-action drama series will indeed return for a sixth season on Paramount+ in the US, but with one significant change.

According to TVLine, only ten episodes will be produced for SEAL Team season 6, as opposed to 14 in the previous season. Paramount+ bosses have yet to confirm whether this will be the final season for the series.

Series star David Boreanaz recently spoke about the potential for more episodes, after a surprising season 5 finale where the crews' lives were left in danger during a rocket attack in Bali.

"It's like, who knows what's going to happen now? Who's going to survive? Who's not going to survive? How could this affect Bravo? Who could be injured? Who could not be injured? What types of injuries?" he teased.

"This is really going to change the fabric of them. But strength in numbers, always. It's a team. One man out, another man in. That's real life, and that's what our show is about."

SEAL Team comes from writer Benjamin Cavell, whose CV also includes writing for thriller Justified, Sneaky Pete, Homeland and spearheading the recent TV version of Stephen King's The Stand.

The Bravo squad is made up of many familiar faces, including Bates Motel veteran Max Thieriot, Mad Men's Jessica Paré, Supernatural actor AJ Buckley, former Walking Dead star Neil Brown Jr, Twilight's Toni Trucks and American Horror Story's Judd Lormand.

News of the show's renewal comes only one week after the fifth season wrapped up with the finale 'All Bravo Stations' on January 23.

The first five seasons of SEAL Team are available to stream now on Paramount+ in the US. The series has previously aired on Sky in the UK as well.
