Sean Paul gives fans special message during 'homecoming' gig at CBS Arena in Coventry

Rapper Sean Paul said he 'loved' Coventry when he made a triumphant return to the city yesterday evening (Tuesday, July 9). He took to the stage at the CBS Arena.

Sean performed some of the biggest hits from his glittering 30-year career, including Temperature, Breathe and Mad Love. Fans danced their way through the night in a huge party at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Longford.

It was a homecoming for the Grammy Award-winning star, who has strong ties to Coventry and Warwickshire. His grandmother, who he gave a shout-out to yesterday evening, is from the city, and he also has extended family in Rugby.

Thousands packed into the Indoor Arena yesterday evening (July 9) as the 51-year-old Jamaican sang some of his biggest hits since he gained international fame in the early 2000s. Fans also enjoyed a live DJ set, with a special appearance from Married at First Sight star Terence Edwards.

Paul Michael, Managing Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We have had a huge spring of live entertainment, and what better way to bring us into summer than Sean Paul? His iconic songs have been the soundtrack to millions of peoples summer for more than 20 years.”

He continued: “We have a proud history of welcoming some of the biggest stars in entertainment, and Sean definitely fitted that bill. It was another incredible night of live entertainment at Coventry Building Society Arena.”
