A second Brit has died following a ‘Brazilian butt lift’ procedure.

The surgery aims to plump out the buttocks to make them appear larger, a look made popular by celebrities such as the Kardashians.

As the procedure claims its second British life, a body of surgeons have warned of the risky operation.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) said the Brazilian butt lift is the most dangerous cosmetic procedure.

Top surgeons warned that people are putting themselves at risk by seeking cheaper procedures abroad.

The Brazilian butt lift (BBL) sees fat taken from other parts of the body and injected into the buttocks.

One in 3,000 die worldwide as a result of the procedure, Baaps told the BBC.

In August, Leah Cambridge, 29, died during a BBL op in Turkey.

A second British woman also died this year, the BBC reports.

Gerard Lambe, consultant plastic surgeon and Baaps member, said: “It has the highest death rate of all procedures due to the risk of injecting fat into large veins in the buttocks, that can travel to the heart or brain.”

A 23-year-old woman from Wales – who wished to remain anonymous – said she was scarred for life and struggled to walk after having a BBL in February. She also had the procedure in Turkey.

Infected holes appeared on her bum cheeks just three months after her op.

“To be honest, when the holes came it was better as the fat was leaking out, which made it possible to walk again,” she said.

She added that liquid seeped from the wounds every day, frequently enough to stain and soak her clothes.

“It smelled. I had to bandage it up every day.

“I honestly wish I could go back. I was happy with my body before. And now I paid a stupid amount of money to look like this.”

Many women who have undergone BBL surgery abroad are later forced to seek NHS treatment after complications or errors of foreign surgeons, Baaps estimate this costs the Health Service thousands of pounds.
