The secret East London rooftop with cocktails inspired by myths and legends with breathtaking views

There’s a little-known rooftop bar in London where you can soak in panoramic views of the capital's landmarks in clear sight. It is hidden inside the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel London, in Tower Hill, ands offers two sky-high terraces where you can see the likes of The Shard and Tower Bridge.

We were invited to try Savage Garden rooftop’s new summer menu, and were impressed by their innovative cocktails and stunning views. We also tasted their new food menu, featuring dishes like Cheese Arancini and Bao Buns, but it's the cocktails that truly elevate the experience.

We ordered two cocktails, and both were quirky and delicious. My favourite was the MAUI, which featured Marsala Superiore, prickly pear wine, Amaro Averna, and Fair elderflower. The best part is that it came in a parrot-shaped glass!

As I am a sucker for the coconut & pineapple combo, I also ordered the MOKO JUMBIE, made with Fresh Monkey Shoulder, coconut rum, pineapple tepache, soda, and apricot jam. This one was a bit too strong for me, though.

Savage Garden’s cocktail menu draws inspiration from global myths and legends. For instance, the CAIPORAC pays tribute to the Brazilian wildlife guardians, while APHRODITE’S GARDEN, a tomato-based elixir, symbolises love and passion, invoking the spirit of the Greek goddess. Each cocktail is expertly crafted to reflect its mythological roots, promising a memorable sensory journey.

The food menu complements the drinks by featuring quirky twists on classic dishes. Their beef sliders were served in a black bun, and instead of bacon, they had bacon jam, whereas their crab sliders came in a blue bun, with jalapeno peppers.

The standout items for me were their green plantain chips, paired with guacamole, and the Italian Cheesy Arancini, featuring a blend of provolone, parmesan, and pecorino cheeses with green peas, served alongside vegan Nduja mayo.

But as I said, the cocktails and the breath-taking views were the true highlight, and I would not come here just for the food. If you are looking for a party, Savage Garden is also the place for you on Fridays and Saturdays, when their resident DJ takes to the decks.

The restaurant on the inside is also stunning, with urban and retro décor all around, so do take the time to explore. Savage Garden also offers a range of event spaces with capacity for up to 380.

Don’t miss out on this rooftop gem just in time for summer and (hopefully) warm weather. For a clear sky day like today, Savage Garden is the perfect spot to watch the sunset!
