Security Scare Grounds Planes At Cologne Airport

A man was arrested after a security scare at the Cologne-Bonn international airport in western Germany which resulted in flights being grounded.

The 62-year-old Spanish man reportedly went around a security checkpoint, prompting officials to evacuate Terminal 1 for more than two hours.

He reportedly told police that he was simply trying to find the fastest route to his Portugal-bound flight.

Passengers are now being allowed back in the terminal to be re-screened, but the backlog of flights will take some time to clear.

Germany's Interior Ministry reportedly set up a crisis panel to investigate what has happened.
