See Demi Moore like never before in the bloody, unsettling preview for twisted body horror movie “The Substance”

Moore has generated Oscar buzz for her role as an aging actress who takes a medication to replicate a younger, better version of herself.

Demi Moore has taken a shocking turn in the first teaser trailer for her Oscar-buzzed body horror movie The Substance — not only as her character, but also in her own career as a Hollywood legend.

The 61-year-old industry veteran enters new territory in the first official preview for the film (above), which Moore leads as Elisabeth Sparkle, an aging actress seeking personal and professional resurgence after her gig as a fitness video instructor comes to an end.

Elisabeth turns to the black market to try a new drug that promises to — literally, from an opening in her own body — spring forth a new, younger version of herself, played by Margaret Qualley.

The preview (also featuring Dennis Quaid in a supporting role) teases quick, twisted shots showing Moore in situations you've never seen before throughout her decades-long career, including several bloody predicaments and artfully constructed sequences featuring full nudity.

Moore's performance in the film received universal praise following The Substance's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, with Moore receiving a sustained standing ovation and earning some of the best critical raves of her career in the process.

In a subsequent interview with EW, Moore said working with Revenge director Coralie Fargeat on the film helped restore her own faith in acting after she considered stepping away from the profession altogether.

“I went through a period of even questioning whether this is what I should still be doing. In the last four years or so, I felt that it was a personal question that I wanted to explore and see," Moore explained to EW. "Was this where I should be putting my energy? When you plant seeds, you wait to see what grows."
