Not even its huge fan following could deliver Sense8 another season after Netflix decided to pull the plug – although it does now have a newly ordered final episode.

(Kind of) reversing its controversial decision, Netflix saved Sense8 by ordering a proper "finale" for the show before it leaves the streaming giant completely.

And now Freema Agyeman – who plays Amanita 'Neets' Caplan – has opened up about what we can expect from the finale, as well as revealing how long the sci-fi drama was supposed to run.

"[Series co-creator] Lana Wachowski had this five-year story arc," she told RadioTimes.com. "Obviously I don't know how that's going to be affected now," she added.

Discussing whether its last outing will deliver closure for viewers, Freeman admitted she wasn't entirely sure, but did suggest we won't be seeing another "huge cliffhanger".

"This special – I don't know if it's going to serve to answer all the questions, I really don't know," she said.

"I do know it probably won't end on a huge cliffhanger like season two did, because should it not come back that would just… that's what made everybody kick off I think."

Teasing the possibility of the return of Sense8 in the future, Freema added she's "looking forward to finding out" where the story goes.

"I don't know whether this special is going to serve to wrap up all the loose ends, or whether there's going to be some sort of agreement or arrangement for moving forward," she said.
