PLANS to build a "ground-breaking" new boarding school building have been given the green light.

Staff at Forres Sandle Manor School, in Fordingbridge, are thrilled to announce that work will soon begin to erect a science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) building.

The transformative project promises to "revolutionise the educational landscape" at the independent school, which dates back as far as the Doomsday Book.

This multi-million pound building will house three specialist science labs equipped with cutting-edge technology and a design technology hub with a computer-aided design suite.

Multiple art studios with gallery space will also be built with the hope of nurturing pupils' creative talents. The plans also include a modern and inviting school library.

Headmaster Mark Howe said: "Forres Sandle Manor is currently enjoying one of the most exciting periods in its long and distinguished history.

"In recent years our school has expanded considerably and this world-class facility will ensure that we can fulfil my ambitions and offer our pupils outstanding practical facilities to complement our superb teaching body.

"I believe it will truly enable all our pupils to fulfil their potential and be further inspired to become the best versions of themselves."

As the school expands to accommodate students up to the age of 16 and incorporates GCSEs into its curriculum, the new STEAM building will serve as a cornerstone of this educational journey.
