July has kicked off in rather grey circumstances and a far cry from the really warm weather of last week which saw the county hotter than Ibiza. But Leicestershire is set to see the sun again soon according to latest forecasts.

In the latest data from the Met Office, temperatures across Leicestershire are set to remain steady throughout the week. However, the early part of this week is dominated by an overcast and cloudy feeling, but the mercury will still be able to hit a high of 17C.

Those wanting the sun may even be alarmed by rain which is forecast to hit Leicester and the wider county on Wednesday (July 4). The day will begin with light rain before becoming heavier as the morning continues.

However, things do look better as the week goes on. According to the Met Office, the day of the general election - Thursday, July 4 - will be met with plenty of sunshine. In its forecast, it says the day will begin bright and sunny and only change to cloudier weather come the evening.

Temperatures will once again be in and around the 17C mark on Thursday and will be matched on Friday (July 5), but the same can’t be said for the sun as overcast conditions return. The sun is set to make a comeback on Saturday though (July 6), with temperatures climbing to 18C - a number that is matched on Sunday (July 7).

The forecast for the week:

  • Tuesday, July 2 - 19C

  • Wednesday, July 3 - 17C

  • Thursday, July 4 - 17C

  • Friday, July 5 - 18C

  • Saturday, July 6 - 18C

  • Sunday, July 7 - 18C
