Severe Hailstorm Triggers Flooding in Central Poland

A “powerful” hailstorm flooded parts of west-central Poland on Monday, May 20, as severe storms swept across the region, local media reported.

Footage filmed by Edyta Olejniczak shows flooded conditions and mounds of hail in the city of Gniezno on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to local media, a firefighter said the storm prompted multiple rescues in the area and flooded residential and public buildings, including a hospital, a police station, and schools. Credit: Edyta Olejniczak via Storyful
