Shane Gillis Comedy ‘Tires’ Off To Promising Start, Rolling Onto Netflix Top 10 Following Debut Weekend
Tires had a promising debut weekend on Netflix.
Shane Gillis’ comedy series landed on the platform May 23, racking up 3.8M views in its first few days. That was good enough for seventh place on the streamer’s English-language TV charts.

Tires had some tough competition, as Bridgerton Season 3 had premiered with its first four episodes the week prior. Lady Whistledown was taking over the ton, once again, and all three seasons of the Shonda Rhimes series as well as prequel Queen Charlotte were on the list. Baby Reindeer is still making noise for the streamer as well, landing at No. 5 last week.
But, Tires was still tracking ahead of Bridgerton Season 3 on Netflix’s daily Top 10 throughout the weekend, indicating that the comedy series has the potential to gain much more traction. That means it is likely to grow its audience and possibly move its way up the Top 10 in the weeks to come.
Clearly Netflix has already seen its potential, having renewed it for a second season before the first’s May 23 premiere. That came after Gillis, who has quite a following, recently performed three sold-out shows as part of Netflix is a Joke Fest in Los Angeles.
His 2023 special, Beautiful Dogs, reached the Netflix Top 10 in five countries and spent two weeks in the US Top 10 list.
Gillis stars in Tires, and serves as writer, co-creator and executive producer. In the six-episode first season, Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis).
Tires also stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox and Stavros Halkias, with guest appearances by Andrew Schulz.
The series is directed by John McKeever. Gillis, Gerben and McKeever are the creators, writers and executive producers. Brandon James is an executive producer for Rough House; Brian Stern and Kenneth Slotnick are executive producers for AGI Entertainment Media & Management. Becky Astphan is an executive producer.
Tires is the second production from Gillis and McKeever’s production company, Dad Sick Productions, following Gillis’ stand-up special Beautiful Dogs.
