'I'm A Celebrity's Shane Richie and AJ Pritchard clash over washing up duty

Watch: Shane Richie and AJ Pritchard clash over I’m A Celeb chores

I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestants Shane Richie and AJ Pritchard blamed each other for not pulling their weight with the chores, as tempers began to boil over in the camp.

After Radio One DJ Jordan North was voted the first camp leader by the public he allocated chores to his fellow celebrities, with ex-EastEnders actor Richie, 56, put in charge of washing up with musical theatre actor Ruthie Henshall and Strictly Come Dancing professional Pritchard, 26, allocated maintenance duty along with Paralympic javelin thrower Hollie Arnold.

Pritchard complained to camp chefs, vlogger Giovanna Fletcher and Olympic athlete Sir Mo Farah that he could not boil water for the day as the previous night’s washing up had not been done.

But when he confronted Richie, who was still in bed, the actor replied: “I need hot water, I left them to soak last night, all ready to be cleaned but I need hot water.”

Pritchard retorted: “But you’ve left them in the pan that does the hot water.”

As Pritchard walked off Richie said “This ain’t working for me, the waiting for someone to do that…”

Richie told the Telegraph cameras later: “There’s a pecking order. I needed water and someone’s gotta fetch the water and someone’s gotta heat the water and unless I’m barking orders - I didn’t want to wash dirty plates and pans in cold water.”

Richie admitted: “This is what will separate... this is where people get p***ed off with each other.”

Broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire, 52, said “We won’t, and Richie muttered “No, we won’t.”

Opera singer Russell Watson admitted in the Telegraph: “Mood today in camp is a little different than it has been the past few days. Everyone has been given specific tasks and there’s been a little of needle, ‘Have you done this, ‘have you done that?’”

And Fletcher confessed: “One thing we’re finding difficult is everyone had chores allocated. Everyone’s getting on with it, possibly some more reluctantly than others.”
