She was banned from pestering pensioner or going within 100m of his home, but just couldn't stay away

A woman jailed for relentlessly pestering a pensioner is back behind bars - after visiting him the week she was released from prison.

In January 2021, Donna Gray was slapped with a restraining order. It banned her from contacting Roy Roberts, or going within 100m of his home.

After breaching the order, the 44-year-old was jailed. She was released on February 6, 2024, but just 11 days later - on February 17 - was back pestering her victim.

The nature of her visit to Mr Roberts' home in Isherwood Street has not been disclosed. But a court heard how items of her clothing were being kept.

The police were called and she was arrested again.

Preston Crown Court heard how the victim had not previously made a statement, but in February he finally spoke out. He told police: "I feel very downhearted because I have tried to help her get off drugs."

The court heard Gray, of no fixed address, has a long standing addiction after being introduced to heroin as a child, by a family member. Recorder Ayesha Siddiqi, sentencing, said she was "a persistent offender" with 38 convictions for 78 offences to her name.

She said: "You were released from prison for breaching this restraining order on February 6 and committed these offences on the 17th.

"You have learned little from the fact you spent time in custody for breaching the restraining order. Just over a week from being released, you were committing these offences."

The judge said she did not see a realistic prospect of rehabilitation and handed down a sentence of 24 weeks.
