Sheffield park stabbing latest as police make fourth arrest

A fourth person has been arrested after two teenagers were stabbed in a Sheffield park on Friday night (May 3).

Police were called to Mortomley Park in the High Green area of the city at 6.49pm on Friday following reports of a disturbance between a group of people.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. They remain in hospital in a stable condition, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police has said.

The two boys were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article and affray. The 17-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug. A 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article and affray. She has since been bailed.

In an update released today (Sunday, May 5) police said that a fourth person, a 16-year-old boy, has also now been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article and affray. He has also been bailed.

A scene was in place at the park yesterday (May 4) while investigators carried out their work but has now been removed. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police added: "Anyone who has any information which could assist our ongoing investigation is encouraged to get in touch.
